The chefs, Julian and Matt graduated from Capsicum Culinary Studios and Prue Leith Chefs Academy respectively and have worked for several years in the industry, including experience in some of the country’s top restaurants.


Using only the finest ingredients sourced locally and organically wherever possible from trusted suppliers, this dynamic duo revitalise old classics and create new dishes to suit modern trends.

The Team

Simon Roberts

After 5 years in the corporate world, Simon thought he’d try his hand in the food industry. Joining forces with his brother, Mike and their friend Matt, both trained chefs, he has taken the first step to achieving his entrepreneurial dream.



A passion for perfection, for presenting a good wholesome feast is something to behold, that is Julian, easily underestimated by the ease in which he transfers his creations to plate likened to an artist to his canvas. Endlessly striving towards achieving delectable works of culinary art. Julian studied at Capsicum in Gauteng, later apprenticing under Chef Franck Dangereux.

Matt Morgan

Matt has always had a passion for food. Having graduated from Prue Leith chefs academy (where he met Mike), he worked in various JHB restaurants. Years later, Matt helped Mike start Good Thyme His incredible dedication to producing amazingly tasty food has made him a key ingredient in Good Thyme.


Having worked for Mike and Simon’s parents for over 20 years, Norah has watched the boys grow. She is now a vital part of the Good Thyme team, she helps where ever she is needed and shows much promise in the kitchen.
